First Saturday Devotions
2017 marks the centenary of Our Lady’s apparitions in Fatima on six successive months in 1917. Through the Legion of Mary we hope to mark this occasion in various ways throughout the year. One of the requests Our Lady made was for special devotions on five successive First Saturdays. Her promise to those who completed this devotion was “ I promise to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation all those who, in order to make reparation to me, on the First Saturday of five successive months, go to confession, receive Holy Communion, say five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for a quarter of an hour, meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary.”To facilitate those who wish to undertake this devotion during this year, on EVERY First Saturday of the year there will be confessions before Mass, with the Rosary being recited in public at the same time, while there will be 15 minutes of meditation after Mass. This will begin on next Saturday, the first Saturday of January.

The elements of this devotion, therefore, consist in the following four points, all of which must be offered in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. One should make this intention before carrying out Our Lady’s requests. A renewal of the actual intention at the time is best; however, if such an intention is made now, it will fulfil the requirements if, for instance, the actual intention is forgotten at the time of confession.
Confession: This confession can be made before the First Saturday or afterward, provided that Holy Communion be received in the state of grace. In 1926, Christ in a vision explained to Lucia that this confession could be made a week before or even more, and that it should be offered in reparation.
Holy Communion: NOTE In this parish, permission is hereby given to postpone Holy Communion and other devotions until Sunday for just reasons in accordance with the conditions below. Before receiving Holy Communion, it is likewise necessary to offer it in reparation to Our Lady. Our Lord told Lucia in 1930, “This Communion will be accepted on the following Sunday for just reasons, if my priests allow it so.” So if work or school, sickness, or another just reason prevents the Communion on a First Saturday, with this permission it may be received the following Sunday. If Communion is transferred, any or all of the other acts of the devotion may also be performed on Sunday if the person so desires.
Rosary:
The Rosary is a vocal prayer said while meditating upon the mysteries of Our Lord’s life and Passion and Our Lady’s life. To comply with the request of our Blessed Mother, it must be offered in reparation and said properly while meditating.
15-minute meditation:
Also offered in reparation, the meditation may embrace one or more mysteries; it may include all, taken together or separately. This meditation should be the richest of any meditation, because Our Lady promised to be present when she said “...those who keep me company....”

Act of Reparation for the First Saturdays of the Month
O Most Holy Virgin, and Our Mother, we listen with grief to the complaints of your Immaculate Heart surrounded with the thorns placed therein at every moment by the blasphemies and ingratitude of ungrateful humanity. We are moved by the ardent desire of loving you as Our Mother and of promising a true devotion to Your Immaculate Heart.
We therefore kneel before You to manifest the sorrow we feel for the grievances that people cause You, and to atone by our prayers and sacrifices for the offences with which they return your love. Obtain for them and for us the pardon of so many sins. Hasten the conversion of sinners that they may love Jesus Christ and cease to offend the Lord, already so much offended. Turn you eyes of mercy toward us, that we may love God with all our heart on earth and enjoy Him forever in Heaven.

THE NINE FIRST FRIDAYS
The Great Promise of Jesus to Saint Margaret M. Alacoque

To all those who, during nine months on end, will receive Holy Communion on the first Fridays of every month.
I promise the Grace of final perseverance. They will not die in My disgrace, but will receive the Sacraments (if necessary), and My Heart will be sure shelter for them in that extreme moment.

The First Friday promises of our Lord to St. Margaret Mary :
1. I will give them all of the graces necessary for their state of life.
2. I will establish peace in their houses.
3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions.
4. I will be their strength during life and above all during death.
5. I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings.
6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy.
7. Tepid souls shall grow fervent.
8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.
9. I will bless every place where a picture of my heart shall be set up and honoured.
10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.
11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.
12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant all to those who communicate on the First Friday in nine consecutive months the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving their sacraments; My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.

Funeral Traffic Signs

On Tue of this week they were set up and manned by Parish Assembly members. For future funerals, we are hoping that neighbours of bereaved families might arrange to put out these signs and stand by them to advise motorists on alternative routes.

New Bell Controller
After a long absence, the automatic Angelus and Mass bells are ringing again since this week. We had ascertained that the electronics in the old equipment were beyond repair and we purchased new modules directly from the factory in England for €1,163 and installed them ourselves. This was achieved through the voluntary technical expertise of Dan Burke, who spent many hours on the phone to the factory in diagnosing the old units and in planning the new modules and, finally, successfully installing and commissioning the new units.

National School Curriculum
The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) is currently surveying Primary Teachers about proposed changes to, among other things, allocation of teaching time to the different subjects. From their website it appears that they are proposing a minimum of 60% of school time as ‘Minimum State Curriculum Time’ for subjects such as: language, mathematics, social personal and health education, social environmental and scientific education, arts education and physical education. Religion is not included in this list but relegated to the activities which will be classed under ‘Flexible Time’ and have a maximum of 40% of school time between them. Since the 60% is ‘minimum’ time it can also extend into flexible time and the activities in flexible time can be allocated any proportion of the remainder as the school sees fit. So there will be no bar to minimising Religion (called ‘patron’s programme’) in favour of the 60% subjects or the other Flexible Time activities which are listed as: recreation, assemblies and roll call.
I invite anybody who wishes to voice their views on this to email: structureandtime@ncca.ie before the deadline of 28th May.
The consultation document is very comprehensive at fifty-eight pages, but page 47 sets out the bare bones of the ‘two-stage model’ which is being proposed.

Bandon Cluster of Parishes
Experimental Summer Schedule

Bandon, Kilbrittain, Newcestown and Enniskeane priests will be operating a new schedule FOR JULY AND AUGUST ONLY in order to give each priest a break during the summer. Each parish, except Kilbrittain, will be dropping one weekend Mass to bring the total Masses in the cluster down to ten. Rotas have been drawn up to enable these Masses to be covered by four priests, leaving the fifth priest free for the weekend on a rotating basis.
This means that all five priests will be celebrating a weekend Mass in Kilbrittain at one time or other and that Fr Cremin will be rotating through the six churches in the cluster, ie Kilbrittain, Bandon, Gaggin, Newcestown, Farnivane and Enniskeane.

Masses booked for anniversaries, etc will be said as scheduled by the priest on duty.
Here is the provisional rota of priests for Kilbrittain, which can vary as changing circumstances dictate.

Sat July 1 Fr Cremin
Sun Jul 2 Canon Kingston, Bandon
Sat July 8 Fr Anthony O’Mahony, Bandon
Sun July 9 Fr Cremin
Sat July 15 Fr O’Mahony
Sun July 16 Fr Cremin

Sat July 29 Canon Kingston

Mon Aug 14* Fr Cremin
Tue Aug 15 Fr Hayes
Sat Aug 19 Fr Hayes
Sun Aug 20 Fr O’Mahony

Sun Aug 27 Fr O’Mahony

*Aug 14, Vigil of Assumption; Parish Assembly has decided that this will also be the annual Kilbrittan Cemetery Mass and will be celebrated in the cemetery, weather permitting.

We are also asking that Sunday Funerals be re-scheduled if at all possible for these two months, as is the rule in Cork City all year round for a long time past.

Full schedule of churches, Masses and priests will be published next week.

Letter from Bandon area priests re new Summer Schedule.

Mass schedule for weekend Masses during July and August. We write as priests of the parishes of Bandon, Enniskeane, Murragh and Kilbrittain to bring to your attention that for the months of July and August a new weekend schedule will operate:
Bandon: Vigil 6.00 pm
Sunday: 10.30am & 12.00 noon
Gaggin Sunday 9.00 am

Enniskeane Vigil 7.30 pm
Sunday 11.00 am

Newcestown Sunday 10.30 am
Farnivane Sunday 9.15 am

Kilbrittain Vigil 8.00 pm
(No change) Sunday 10.30 am

Over the years we have noted a considerable fall-off in attendances during these Summer months due to holidays etc.
We the priests of the four parishes will rotate from parish to parish to provide weekend cover.

During these two Summer months there will be no Sunday funerals. This comes to us from feedback from family on the occasion of a death and our Sunday congregation. Family feel a Sunday funeral is impersonal and our Sunday congregation feel a Sunday funeral imposes on their Sunday celebration.

Pick up a green sheet from the porches today with the full timetable of Sunday Masses and priest assignments in the Bandon cluster for July and August.

Fr Jerry's 40th Jubilee
The Parish Assembly would like to thank everyone who helped make last Sunday's celebration a huge success. It was great to see such a huge crowd - thank you for being there. Thanks to the children who took part in the Mass, to Kilbrittain Scouts and the Folk Choir. Thanks to those who donated baking and helped out in the hall; to the musicians who played beautifully and to John for the sound equipment; to Siobhán for the cake and to Donie for photos. Thanks also for contributions to the presentation. Congratulations again to Fr Jerry.

Kilshinihan Church
We find the first reference to Kilshinihan Parish at the Synod of Kells 1152 and it has featured in Church documents in almost every century since. It now part of Kilbrittain Parish and the walls of its chapel, which is situated in Mrs Burke’s farm, are still in fairly good condition. The whole building and the means of access to it, however, are seriously impeded by vegetation. It is hoped to have the sacred site cleared sufficiently to enable a Mass to be celebrated there in August. To this end, many people living in the locality, both Kilbrittain and Timoleague parishioners, have responded eagerly to approaches made to them for voluntary labour. These will be meeting at Kilshinihan Mass Rock on Tue evening next at 8.00 pm to make plans and accept ideas. Anybody who might be interested from any part of either parish would be enthusiastically welcomed to that meeting.

Our Cruciform Stained-glass Window

cruciform window

Stanley Tomlin, a member of a British stained-glass manufacturing family and who studied stained glass art at the famous Harry Clarke Studios, came to Ireland in the 1940s to work for the firm of AW Lyons in 20 Westland Row, Dublin. He later set up his own company, 'Irish Stained Glass', with his wife Diana. This has now passed to their son, Alan, and wife Barbara.

While working for AW Lyons, one of the commissions Tomlin executed was a set of three windows for the sanctuary in the chapel of the Irish Glass Bottle factory in Ringsend. These comprised a window made in the shape of a cross (‘cruciform’) with a smaller window on each side containing the Christian symbols XP and IHS. It has now emerged that he also, at that time or shortly afterwards, made a copy of the cruciform window.

When the Irish Glass Bottle company closed in 2002 the premises, including the chapel, were demolished. (Part of the site was bought by a state agency for an extravagant sum during the boom and political repercussions still make the news from time to time.)

Paul Carton, a web-based journalist in Ringsend, has researched the fate of the three windows from the Irish Glass Bottle chapel and which were rescued by Alan Tomlin at the time the chapel was demolished. One of the side windows is in the chapel at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital on Adelaide Road. The other side window is stored in Alan Tomlin's workshop in Sandyford. The cruciform window, according to Tomlin, was badly damaged and is not in his possession, having been sold off privately to a Birmingham collector.

However, Paul Carton has discovered that the copy of the Ringsend cruciform window was in some manner secured for St Patrick's church Kilbrittain shortly after it was made. Some weeks ago he phoned asking me to confirm this, which I was able to do based on the inscription which is scratched in very small letters on the bottom right hand piece of glass: 'A W Lyons Ltd. 20 Westland Row, Dublin. 1951'. This week, Paul has acknowledged the authenticity of the window and his account can be found on his website at
http://www.newsfour.ie/2017/06/a-sneak-peek-at-stained-glass/

Saints Commemorated this week

Thurs, June 29th
Saints Peter and Paul, Apostles.
Ancient Romans considered this day to be the date of the foundation of the city in about 750 BC by Romulus and Remus. The Church adopts the day to honour the two founders of the faith in Rome.

Saturday, July 1st
Saint Oliver Plunkett.
A good example of those who, according to the words of Jesus in today’s Gospel ‘declares himself for me in the presence of men’. Oliver Plunkett was appointed Archbishop of Armagh in 1669, during the time when priests were being hunted down. He was arrested in 1679 and found guilty of treason in in London. He was martyred at Tyburn (close to the present-day Marble Arch and Edgeware Road) on 1st July 1681 by hanging, disembowelling, quartering and beheading.

INDULGENCE OPPORTUNITIES DURING THE CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY OF THE APPARITIONS OF OUR LADY IN FATIMA, PORTUGAL
Pope Francis has granted a plenary indulgence opportunity for the 100th anniversary of the Fatima apparitions throughout the centennial year,
from the 27th of November 2016 till the 26th of November 2017. There are three ways to obtain the indulgence, detailed in a statement from the Fatima Shrine in Portugal.
To obtain the plenary indulgence, the faithful must also fulfill the ordinary conditions: go to Confession and Communion, be interiorly detached from sin, and pray for the intentions of the Holy Father.
1. To the faithful who make a pilgrimage to the Fatima Shrine in Portugal and participate in a celebration of prayer dedicated to the Virgin. In addition, the faithful must pray the Our Father, recite the Creed and invoke the Mother of God.
2. Pray before any statue of Our Lady of Fatima
To the faithful who visit with devotion a statue of Our Lady of Fatima solemnly exposed for public veneration in any church, oratory or proper place during the days of the anniversary of the apparitions, the 13th of each month from May to October 2017, and there devoutly participate in some celebration or prayer in honor of the Virgin Mary. In addition, the faithful must pray the Our Father, recite the Creed and invoke Our Lady of Fatima.
3. The elderly and infirm
To the faithful who, because of age, illness or other serious cause, are unable to get around, may pray in front of a statue of Our Lady of Fatima and must spiritually unite themselves to the jubilee celebrations on the days of the apparitions, the 13th of each month, between May and October 2017. They must also “offer to merciful God with confidence, through Mary, their prayers and sufferings or the sacrifices they make in their own lives.”

Severe drought is currently affecting Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia and Ethiopia and this has resulted in failed harvests and the widespread death of livestock. Conflict has exacerbated the effects in South Sudan and Somalia, with areas in both countries now on the verge of famine.

Night at the Dogs: As people may be aware, the club have been developing a new pitch at Clashavanna, and we were delighted to be able to start playing on it this summer. This has been made possible by the support of the community, the wider community in Cork during our fundraising draw in 2014, and Sports Capital and County Council grants received to develop the pitch. The new pitch is a marvellous addition to the community and our members are very excited about it. With the existing Community field, it has enabled us to ensure matches and training can all be accommodated for both the Adult, Underage and Camogie clubs without disruption. It will be of great benefit to the club for years to come. But this is still a work in progress and the next step is to build dressing rooms. We have been awarded a Sports Capital grant towards the cost of this but we must raise the balance of the funds ourselves. As part of our fundraising efforts we are asking all our club members, players, supporters and their families to support a 'Night at the Dogs' fundraising event being held on 18th November 2017, in Curaheen Park, Bishopstown. Tickets at €10 will be sold throughout the parish in the next few weeks. Race and card sponsorship will also be appreciated. Thank you for your support.

Kilbrittain Foroige Club returns after the summer break on Friday the 22nd of September, at 9.30 pm, in The Hall, with registration of existing and new members. As places are limited, we ask all those interested in joining the club for the coming year to attend on the night. A Parent/Guardian must attend on the night with your child. The membership fee of €20 per member or €30 per family will also be collected on the night.
The club cannot function without the help of parents. Under new requirements of the Child Protection Laws, all helping parents must be Garda vetted. To facilitate this, we are asking parents to bring at least two forms (and ideally more) of strong photographic IDs, and separate proofs of address on the night. Strong IDs would include passports, photographic Public Services Card, credit card Drivers Licence and home utility bills. Other forms of ID (e.g. old style drivers licence, other letters confirming address) may also be acceptable if three or four forms are presented - we can check them against the National Vetting scoring system to see if the combination of ID's is acceptable or not. Full details, including the scoring system and acceptable forms of ID, are available on the Kilbrittain Foroige Facebook page. Please ring or text Ted at 087/6329290 for further information or any query about suitable forms for vetting.

ANYBODY INTERESTED? NEW RTE SHOW!
Waka TV are producing a new series for RTE called ‘Raised by the Village’ and we are considering Kilbrittain as our village location for the programme.
As the old saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. We want to make that saying a reality by bringing a teen from an urban environment down to a rural village where they will learn that there's another way of life than the one they're used to. They will be immersed in the community, partaking in different activities and challenges over the course of a week long stay.
The teenager will stay with a host family and will have mentors from the community as they get involved with each different activity or club event. The teen will have been nominated by their parents to take part for various reasons - perhaps they're a social media or computer game addict, or hanging round street corners. We want to see how a completely urbanised, city kid will adapt to their new surroundings and if their break from their usual environment will set them back on the right path in life. This new programme is for a primetime RTE slot and we feel it will showcase the village and the benefits of rural living to a wide audience. All the best aspects of the village will be highlighted, focusing on the strong sense of community and collective support system that can be missing in
bigger urban areas these days. We think this could be a fantastic opportunity to display Kilbrittain in a positive light to the RTE viewers, while giving the teenager an eye opening and hopefully life changing experience that they'll never forget.
Of course, filming in the village depends on if we have the right family to host! We are looking for a family with teens in the house who are happy to take on one more for the filming period. They would be the surrogate parents while the teen is there, and the teen would be fully expected to row in with household chores and family routines. Even better, if the family lives on a farm the teenager can muck in too! The teenager's journey in the village would be filmed by our small crew of one camera, one sound, one producer and one director. They would be in the village for the week, charting their progress with their host family and as they take on each different challenge.
We are speaking to a number of villages at the moment but we would love if you could spread the word around the village and see if people are interested in getting on board. Once we knew there was interest there, we could come down in person to outline what the process would involve and discuss how they could be the best fit for this show.

New Website
A new parish website is in the process of being built, it has the address WWW.KILBRITTAIN.ORG. At present, the Bulletin and Bulletin Archives are all that can be accessed. During last weekend the service provider for www.frcremin.com experienced serious difficulties and all associated sites were off the air. We were told that there was a huge repair job done and sites were back online early in the week, though it was still showing problems throughout the week. The new parish site, kilbrittain.org, is being hosted by a different server so it will serve as an alternative source for Bulletin content.
The original parish website, parish.kilbrittain.net was taken off the internet during the week at my request. I have archived all the material which was on it and will put some of it on the new site and make material available to anybody who wants copies of text or photos which used to be on it. The email address attached to that site, parish@kilbrittain.net is now being redirected to the new parish email parish@kilbrittain.org
The parish is grateful to Paddy Shiels for accommodating and building the original website and for his help in closing it down and setting up mail redirect this week.

Tickets at €10 will be sold throughout the parish in the next few weeks. Race and card sponsorship will also be appreciated. Thank you for your support.

On October 13th, we will be sleeping out to shine a light on the issue of homelessness in Ireland today. We are joining other communities to raise funds to support the vital work of Focus Ireland and their aim to end homelessness in Ireland.
Family homelessness has reached historic proportions, with 2,777 children currently living in emergency accommodation in Ireland, often unable to get to school, rarely getting a home-cooked meal and sinking into darkness.
We are joining Focus Ireland and our peers to help shine a light of hope on Ireland’s changing landscape of homelessness.
Please lend your support by sponsoring our journey.
Donations can be given through donation buckets in The Post Office, Hickey’s Shop, The Amber Bar, The Kilbrittain Inn or The Co- Op. You can also donate to any Foroige Member using their Sponsorship Cards or by Calling into The Hall During the overnight itself between 9.00pm on the 13th of October and 8am on the 14th. From 12 o’clock noon on Wed 1st November until midnight on Thurs 2nd November, all who have confessed, received Holy Communion, and prayed for the Pope’s intentions (one Our Father and Hail Mary, or any other prayer of one’s choice) can gain one plenary indulgence by visiting a church or oratory, and there reciting one Our Father and the Apostle’s Creed.
This indulgence is applicable only to the souls of the departed. Confession may be made at any time within the week preceding or the week following 1st November. Holy Communion may be received on any day from 1st November to 8th November.
The faithful who visit a cemetery and pray for the dead may gain a plenary indulgence applicable only to the Holy Souls on the usual conditions once per day from 1st to 8th November. The conditions mentioned above apply also for this

A Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory
O Lord, who are ever merciful and bounteous with your gifts, look down upon the suffering souls in purgatory. Remember not their offences and neglectfulness, but be mindful of your loving mercy, which is from all eternity. Cleanse them of their sins and fulfil their ardent desires that they may be made worthy to behold you face to face in your glory. May they soon be united with you and hear those blessed words which will call them to their heavenly home: "Come, blessed of My Father, take possession of the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world."
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord; And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen

Viatores Christi
Members of Viatores Christi will speak at both Masses this weekend. This is part of the Mission Outreach of the Dioceses. There will be a collection in the porches after Masses.

Closing date for entries is 28th Feb 2018.
Download PDF of Diocesan Brochure

Here are the Full details:

Cork and Ross Young Adult Helpers to lourdes 2018 (18 to 25 year olds.)

This year's group of first time helpers will be confined to 25 young people from the age of 18 to 25 years.

Duties as a helper will include assisting in the hospital with the sick, and the staff. Other duties will include helping in the bedrooms, laundry, dining room and the kitchen as well as pushing wheelchairs and bringing the sick to all the ceremonies, and interacting with them during the five days of the pilgrimage.

We do ask that anyone volunteering as a helper must be of good health and not suffering from any illness or injuries. Due to the fact that the diocese contributes €400 towards the fare - we ask that helpers are practising Catholic who attend Mass on a weekly basis.

All helpers are being funded by a generous subsidy of €400 made possible from the Cork and Ross Lourdes Pilgrimage Fund - bringing what it costs the helper to just €350.
Booking forms are to be returned with a non-refundable deposit of €100 on or before the 28th February 2018.

Please note that the number of first time helpers this year will be limited to 25 people, and therefore interviews will take place in March at a date to be announced.

If you have any queries please contact Fr Charles Kiely on 021-4537603

Over the years Cork and Ross Lourdes Pilgrimage has
extended an invitation to all Young Adults (18-25 year olds) to consider giving five days to come to Lourdes and join the Diocese as helpers.

Walking in the footsteps of St Bernadette and sharing her storyand the message of t.ourdea,

Spending time in a spirit of faith with other like-minded young adults from across the Diocese of Cork and Ross.

Being of assistance to the sick pilgrims from Cork and Ross who travel on pilgrimage - some time will be spent pushing wheelchairs, assisting them at ceremonies, taking time with them.
All helpers will be on a rota, which allows for free time.

Participating in the prayer and liturgies of the Diocesan Pilgrimage.

The Young Adult Group stay at the Hotel Agena which is just a short walk from the Lourdes Shrine Domain.
Accommodation will be in twin bedded en-suite rooms, and the fare includes flights, all meals, coach transfers, travel insurance, and all other costs associated with participating in this group will be included in the price of €350 made possible by a generous subsidy of €400 from the Cork and Ross Lourdes Pilgrimage Fund. Fundraising is also possible
at parish level to further assist Young Adult Helpers with their fare.

In coming to Lourdes as a helper you are reminded that the work is not for the faint-hearted, and involves 100% commitment and dedication.

A Cork and Ross Pilgrimage to Lourdes is first and foremost a journey of prayer and even detachment from our normal routine. In Lourdes we step back for a while to pause and reflect on our life's journey
before God, to ponder and turn over in our minds and hearts the wonderful story of Mary's appearance to Bernadette, and to ask their prayers and help in our efforts to live the Christian life at home work, college, parish, with our family and friends.

A RECENT EMAIL FROM FR JOHN HEINHOLD
It's hard to believe I am back in Kenya over a month and a half. I finished my language course today so my head is full of Kiswahili. As you will know, with any language, the real work starts now as I have to take all that I learned and put it into practice. I hope and pray the people will be understanding! I plan to travel to Nakuru at the weekend to take up my new post. It's all very different from Ireland but with the help of God, and your continued prayers, I will settle into the work and life here in Kenya again. I am so grateful to you all for the wonderful farewell you gave me that Sunday morning. It was so nice to see and catch up with so many. All I can say is thank you, it's hard to express appropriately how important it is to me to know that I have you all praying for me in Kilbrttain. It gives me great courage and conciliation.
God willing I will be in contact again for Christmas. Thank you so much and lets keep each other in prayer.

Prayer for Blessing an Advent Wreath
This week we begin the season of Advent, when the days grow short and darkness closes in. We are preparing to celebrate at Christmas the birth of Jesus, who is the light of the world. Let's spend some quiet time being aware of the darkness and longing for the light. . . .
Lord God, bless this wreath and bless us as well. May this wreath remind us of the hope and joy that Jesus brings into the world. Lord God, let your blessing come upon us as we light the candles of this wreath. May the wreath and its light be a sign of Christ's promise to bring us salvation. May he come quickly and not delay. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
